Tonner’s Facebook Makeover: Part Duex

by on May 13, 2011

Tonner All-Access Pass Preview - Debuts tomorrow, Sat. 5.14 at NOON EDT!

…And now for the nitty-gritty:   Let’s delve a little deeper into the new Tonner All-Access Pass! Today, we’re getting a little bold, and have  chosen to give you a sneak peek!  What you see above is the home grid.  Pretty, isn’t she?

Well, hold on to your hats, folks, because it’s about to get even better!  On this home grid are what we’re calling tiles that hold links.  Yep, that’s right:  It’s totally interactive!  For example, there is a tile that you can see in the preview labeled ‘Join the Community Discussions:  Wall’ .  By clicking on this tile, you can bypass the Tonner All-Access Pass (not that you’d want to!), and continue straight onto our Facebook Wall (you can also do this by clicking on WALL in the top left). Also embedded in these tiles are links to our YouTube channel, our Tonner Blog, our website www.tonnerdirect.com, and of course, links to see our dolls in ways they’ve never been seen before!

The interface navigations can be used in a few different ways:  First, you’ll probably notice right away the ‘floating’ feeling of the mouse.  Though it is unusual, this is all part of the cutting edge technology that makes this so great, and that feature alone brings a whole new, dynamic level of excitement to the All-Access Pass.   It also gives you what’s called a keyhole effect:  That there’s more to see here than just what’s in the frame.   See, we want you to play with the interface itself! (Read: Believe in the power of play!)

Another navigation option is the menu at both the top and bottom of the home grid.  You can click HOME, NEXT, or PREVIOUS at the bottom to navigate through all the tiles.  Or, you can use the menu at the top to pick and choose what you want to see and play with.  If you want to get back to the home grid, you can find a HOME button in the top right corner of all pages.  You’ll be scrolling up and down to see the entire grid and to access these different menu choices.  And finally, you can also navigate this home grid with your keyboard arrows!  Yes, that’s right, folks:  You’ve got options!

Another fabulous feature of the Tonner All-Access Pass is the HELP button, which you’ll find in the top right corner of the home grid.  Sometimes, we all need a little help from our friends, right?  If ever you’ve got a question, just click the little help button, and help will be dutifully provided!

The Mad Scientists behind this playful mini-website are none other than Deep Soni and Kevin Von Duuglas-Ittu, both exceptionally talented, creative geniuses.  Check out Deep Soni’s blog post about working on the Tonner All-Access Pass, it will give you a little more inside info on this amazing technology, and one of the creative geniuses behind the magic.

Don’t forget:  Tomorrow at noon EDT, the creation will be unveiled!  Tell your friends!  Side-note: If you’ve got TONNERDirect’s FB Wall bookmarked (we love you, that’s amazing!), you will bypass the Tonner All-Access Pass, so you may want to consider un-bookmarking it.  However, no worries, because there will also be a link in our actual Facebook page where you can still get to the Tonner All-Access Pass as well.

Friends, we welcome your comments, and can’t wait to continue this dialogue!

  1. Sounds like something to be avoided — too many options for junk and problems.

    • Hi Christine! Thanks for your comments, we appreciate your honest feedback. Naturally, we hope you give it a chance and LOVE it, but if it’s not for you, that’s okay, and you can always bypass it and get directly to the FB wall by clicking WALL at the top left. Thanks again for your comments!

  2. I can’t seem to look at this post from my smartphone!!!

  3. I really like the new look. I think it’s great info, and much better than the previous “generic” (and boring) Facebook page. You guys are doing great at getting your own feel for your product out there.

I’m the type who loves new technology, though–and the more info, the better, IMHO. I’d love to see links to Robert Tonner’s designs (for real people) on here, too, if possible. 🙂

    • Hey Alison,

Thanks so much for the positive comments about our new Facebook look!! We are delighted that it both is engaging and interactive AND showcases our amazing dolls. Great suggestion about about also showcasing Robert’s fashion designs as well! Thanks very much for taking the time to leave a comment here on our blog. We really appreciate your participation and readership!

      Very Best,
      Team Tonner
